The making of Blueclay

The thought behind Blueclay was to use original decoration techniques, materials and design, as well as turning back to something original when making food from scratch. The dishes are decorated in wet layers with coloured glazing, using a special technique in which the colours are mixed together in a marble-like decoration that resembles the patterns that occur when you mix ingredients when cooking.

You can indeed call the new Blueclay bowl for Slow Manufacturing. From the first lump of clay to the final product it takes more than tree weeks to produce.

Why the name? Because the bowls are made out of a type of Danish “blå/blue” clay.

We love great design

Normann Copenhagen is a way of living - a mindset. We like to think of it as putting on a pair of glasses and seeing the world in a different way. We love to challenge the conventional design rules.

On this blog we write about our design, the designers, and interesting things we spot around our hometown - Copenhagen.

Enjoy
