Conceived in a coffee bar!

This is the very first drawing of the salt & pepper set 58° N… made on a paper napkin. The designduo Ulik conceived the idea of creating a cool and simple Salt & Pepper set in a Coffee bar in Oslo.

Ulik says: Our idea was to design a salt and pepper set that would be robust, and at the same time elegant.  This is an everyday item for different types of table arrangements and people want it to retain its newness and purpose for a long time.

Ulik aka. Stian Mørland and Brynjulf Krokstrand both have a background within design from Oslo National Academy of Arts.

When we first saw the design we loved the simplicity and the materials used. The cold  matt porcelain and cork are a great combination and feels really nice to hold and use.

Why the name 58°N? – the answer is quite simple. It is the latitude where Denmark and Norway meet.

We love great design

Normann Copenhagen is a way of living - a mindset. We like to think of it as putting on a pair of glasses and seeing the world in a different way. We love to challenge the conventional design rules.

On this blog we write about our design, the designers, and interesting things we spot around our hometown - Copenhagen.

Enjoy
