We made an Online Site – Offline!

To celebrate our new site, we decided to turn the corridor in our Flagship Store in Copenhagen into an installation exhibition. Starting tonight at 7 pm – and the four following weeks – we  have taken our  new online universe and put it into an offline context – sounds confusing?  Take a look at the pictures below – or join the launch reception tonight.

We have turned the facade of our Flagship Store into the frontpage of our  new site.

Real social networking – sit and share the event with old  or new friends.

We have made a video – describing the shopping experience on www.normann-copenhagen.com

Sign up for our newsletter offline! – or online.

You are invited!

For a while we have been working on our new site which combines brandsite, web shop and social content in one. You might have been following the process on www.wedosocialbusiness.com.

We want to celebrate it is online! We are throwing a big launch reception on Friday from 7pm to 10pm in our Flagship Store – and you are invited!

Interior Decorating 2.0

If you have walked by our Flagship Store in Copenhagen after opening hours, you might have noticed that the display window is different every day.  We like to change, re-decorate and move our products around in new formations, which is why we thought that we would like to change the lamps in the ceiling – something thats easier said than done when the distance between the floor and ceiling is a bit more than 13 m.

Here Allan and Peter from the store is taking down the Hang lamps and putting up 25 Bau lamps.

Here the Flagship Store before:

And after:

At the moment on our Facebook page we have asked which version of  the Bau Lamp you prefer – Multi or Nature?  See the result and give your vote here
The Bau Lamp is designed by Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt and is a sculptural self assembly lamp.

NOMA Lab gets the STAR Lamp

Yesterday, we went to the opening of the NOMA Lab. The press and friends of the NOMA house were invited to experience the new innovative and creative place where worldclass food is created by the chefs of NOMA. We were there as we, together with GXN, have developed the STAR lamp which are now giving light to the room. STAR lamp is exclusively made for NOMA.

Nordic, Raw and Playful
The NOMA Lab is connected to NOMA situated in a former warehouse on the national registry of protected buildings.  The tight restrictions meant that GXN was required to design the interior without using so much as one single nail in the walls or flooring.  The approach was to design four central multi-functional storage units; each composed from over five hundred uniquely formed wooden cubes. Curving playfully throughout the space, these units divide the 200M2 room into smaller areas accommodating the Food Lab, the herb garden, staff areas and office.  Raw and simple, through colours and forms, it captures a unique Nordic aesthetic.  True to the restaurant’s philosophy, the NOMA Lab is developed exclusively using Nordic materials.

Designing a Photo Boutique

By the surroundings of Falkoner Alle in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, you find a new photo shop nearby the hotel Radisson-Falkonersalen.

The new shop has a simple and modern design combined with black and white colours with some red spottings. Customers at Modul foto shop are able to get inspiration from the very begining they look through the window by walking on the street. To open the door and enjoy the photography world comes along.
Inspirated by Britt Bonnesen, brand manager of Normann Copenhagen and the architech Rolf M. Sørensen from Hoff & Jørgensen.

Products as the Hang lamp and the Tablo table create a fantastic visual combination to the eyes, the customer might get inspiration for new pictures or just enjoy the sensation of being at an urban photo shop in the center of Copenhagen as being at an Apple store in the center of Manhattan.

Acne Pop-up-Shop in Normann

Watching the Copenhagen Fashion Week 2012 our Flagship Store is hosting a pop-up-shop where Acne provides a new innovative shopping experience. On the entrance the Flagship Store the fashion travel begins.

The new Acne’s collection Spring-Summer 2012 is a fantastic combination of bright colors that perfectly match Normann Copenhagen designs. Inspired by a trip to North Africa and the Sahara, the creative directive Jonny Johansson has created a terrific collection that easily captivates your senses.

The pop-up-shop with the exclusive clothing line and accessories for both women and men are available during February.

Most Innovative Store!

Normann Copenhagen has been awarded the Denmark global innovation award (gia) for ‘most innovative store’ for our 1,700 m2 Flagship Store at Østerbro in Copenhagen. Gia is an international award presented to the most innovative and exciting store in the field of interior design and décor in Denmark.

The award is then presented on an international scale, with Denmark competing against the rest of the world at The International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago in March 2012. We won in the ‘small independent retailers’ category.

“We are delighted and proud to receive the Denmark gia, and we are excited about the international prize-giving event in 2012. We want Normann Copenhagen to be an ongoing source of inspiration for our visitors 24/7. As an example, we design a new window display every evening,” explains Peter Elmegaard, Retail Director and co-owner.

We love great design

Normann Copenhagen is a way of living - a mindset. We like to think of it as putting on a pair of glasses and seeing the world in a different way. We love to challenge the conventional design rules.

On this blog we write about our design, the designers, and interesting things we spot around our hometown - Copenhagen.

Enjoy
