Air Force One Spottted in Copenhagen

Poul, one of our two CEOs has this thing about sneakers… actually so do the other (exhibit #1), so when Nike launches a limited (only 500 produced) sneaker, he just has to have a pair. Moss is the only place to buy them, and most of us would be satisfied with a bit of MossOnline shopping. But not Poul, he flew to New York to get his pair ” I had to make sure that they fitted perfectly” he says. Now thats not a customer, thats a true fan.

Expect to see Air Force 1 on a very happy Dane at the design fair in Milano (Salone Internazionale del Mobile)… and if you do, please tell him they look really nice on him. Real sneaker lovers like Poul, will off cause click below.
Perfect knot 2.0

A while ago we did a “how to tie the perfect knot on your scarf” instruction video. Since then more than 23.000 people has watched it on Youtube. Many have told us that it was poorly recorded – and it was. We tried to compensate with step by step pictures but little did it help. Here is the all new high-res, 210 frames pr. second version. The quality may still be bad, but now you can at least see what is happening.
The scarf is our own Normann Copenhagen (50% Cashmere / 50% Silk) scarf which comes in grey and black.
Spotted In… Miami Beach

For the past few weeks I’ve had the fantastic pleasure of visiting one of the true – but under valued – design capitals of the world, Miami & Miami Beach.
I cut into my beach time to bring you a few highlights any design conscious traveler should check out (especially those heading to Winter Music Conference in a few weeks!).

After taking a walk along Ocean Drive to check out the beach and art deco architecture, the first stop for anyone looking to do some shopping should be Miami Beach’s fantastic pedestrian shopping street, Lincoln Road. Obvious highlights were the small, but well equipped concept store Base, which is packed with trendy clothes, books and music.

Then, it’s only a short walk to Design Within Reach, located just next door. DWR is a North American wide chain that carries all the big things you need in your design-oriented life (chairs, desks, beds…) from all the big names in the industry. Granted, not the easiest stuff to get onto a plane, it’s always a great browse).

If Lincoln wasn’t enough head down to Collins Ave and check out the Kid Robot concept store. Kid Robot has been flying the flag for edgy but playful gear and toys for grown-ups for some time now. Not for everyone’s tastes but it makes great gifts.
When you’re done shopping head to The Standard for a drink and watch the sunset from their pool-bar and then if you’re in a partying mood head over to Louis or Bella Rose (especially if its Sunday for their Black Sunday night).
If you’re going to head to the mainland then look no further than the Miami Design District. Surely one of the jewels of the design world, these few square blocks are PACKED with street art, galleries, studios and shops. There are always events going on so check out the website.
For accommodations, check out “The Art Hotel” Sagamore, where I had the pleasure of attending their new art-lined lobby bar’s opening or the Mondrian.
When you’re in Miami Beach make sure you keep your eyes on boutique network Plum TV Miami Beach (my gracious hosts during my time there) for coverage on all the parties and events going on.

Ok, so they want you to buy their underwear, but in this case, I think that’s kind of irrelevant. This commercial has been airing on swedish television for some time and when my boyfriend told me that a friend of ours, who is pregnant and therefore claims she is more emotional than usually, had started crying while watching commercials, I immediately was sure it was this one. The beautiful cover on the Cindy Lauper song “True Colors” is preformed by Norwegian singer/songwriter Ane Brun.

Tom Ford

Cover of Tom Ford
I reccently (finnaly!) got my copy of Tom Ford sent to me! Although it’s a copy of the second print that was released in the fall, not the prized first edition from a few years back, it’s brilliance goes beyond the fantastic use of Helvetica on the cover.
I’ve always been a huge Tom Ford fan, so I guess I would like the book no matter what, but what did actually surprise me is the “story” in the book, it’s just pictures as I expected. Because thats what makes the Tom Ford story so unique though – the story. But what’s interesting is not his personal rags-to-riches story (not sure he even has one?), but Gucci’s rags-to-riches story.

As a marketer/designer I’ve always been drawn to Ford for that reason – he was a businessman and a designer. And in the fashion space he was second to none at both jobs. What eventually made Ford a household name (even beyond design circles) was his ability to seemingly do whatever he wanted (everyone remember the vanity fair cover with Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson?).

The book follows along Ford’s hugley successful, albeit short, career at Gucci and YSL using images taken at the time along with reflective writing. Surly there will be another chapter to this book no matter which way his career turns. Anyone who’s had the opportunity to visit his store in New York can certainly confirm that he has still got it – although the pieces are ”out of reach to even then average millionaire” (to use the always wise words of Wallpaper magazine).
