Reach for the stars… literally

Ever heard the expression “Reach for the stars” – well someone took it quite literally with the Burj Khalifa building. Our dear CEO Poul witnessed the opening ceremony of the tallest building in the world and according to his live blog reporting its “F…… amazing”.

And the winner is…

The winner of the “Be creative and win” – 2009 is the fantastic picture “Cold” by Sena C.

The sick Familia cup made us want to curl up under our Plaid with a cup of hot Choclate, especially these days when Copenhagen is ice cold and covered in snow. This picture encourages for some “local warming” at home.

There can only be one ! But we fell in love with this picture of a dog digging in the Spine Rug, so we made up a new price “The Creative Ninja ‘Award” that goes to ; Hannah L for “Hiding”

Things we have learned

This year we have learned many interesting things including:

1.  that Pole-dancing is not allowed on Swedish trains! Learn why

2. it takes a woman to paint – in style! See the pictures

3. the secret behind Danish design success. See the formula

4. that you can build a robot – which can build itself. Proof

5… and finally that this song still makes us dance. Watch

Copenhagen is hot!

Good luck COP15 – make our grandchildren proud.

Time to design – and you are invited!

This thursday at the Normann Copenhagen Flagship store it’s Time to design, or rather it’s time to see how Wai & Lanzavecchia design. In august the design-duo won the Time to design – new talent  award with their winning project “SPAZIALE SERIES: New expressions of skin and structure”.

It could have been our CEOs

UPDATE: We just got this video:

Our two CEO´s at Normann Copenhagen (Jan & Poul) are huge Red Bull fans and start every morning with a shot of Red Bull… its true! They were both pretty happy the other day when the drink finally became legal to sell in Denmark. To mark it the crazy people from Austria are in town including 10 x world champion Orlando Duque… guess what he did from the Copenhagen Opera House?  Super cool pictures below.

A beautiful… rock

Berlin-wall

From a design point of view, this is not the most beautiful rock in the world… far from. But it is a piece of rock from the Berlin wall that was taken down 20 years ago today. – and therefore we think it is one of the most beautiful rocks in the world. Berlin we love you.

All books should be like this

We love books, and since we are a design company we love books with tons of pictures. However there is a category of books that are even more cool than the hippest design book. Take a look below – and if you have kids, or just know someone who does, rush out and buy it for them. The 2 dots is written by David A. Carter. ISBN: 88-8290-869-0

We love great design

Normann Copenhagen is a way of living - a mindset. We like to think of it as putting on a pair of glasses and seeing the world in a different way. We love to challenge the conventional design rules.

On this blog we write about our design, the designers, and interesting things we spot around our hometown - Copenhagen.

Enjoy
Normann Copenhagen
