A ceramicist´s worst nightmare was Claydies contribution to thinking out of the box when it comes to creative use of clay. They exhibited the murder of 12 clay pots at the Malmö Art Museum.

This is Gry Fager, the designer of the Mormor series – and this is the story about how you make a grown up Japanese man (Hirai-San aka Mr. Scope) fall in love in one hour. We went to Gry’s new studio in Copenhagen. The purpose of our visit was to learn more about the concept and design process of the Mormor series.

A typical Danish coffee table. You may recognize the Grass vase designed by Claydies. Gry knows the two ladies very well since she worked in the Claydies studio during her studies at the Danish designschool.

Knitted sweets made by Gry’s own grandma… as well as the handmade decoration on the tablecloth.

A very unique gift. Gry gave Mr. Scope the very first Mormor jug ever made.

Rika did a amazing job translating and getting every single point right – every time.

Every word was translated between English and Japanese. The languages may be very different, but our sense of humor and love for great design is one common language.

We hope you by now know that we recently opened our very own webshop. Last week we ran out of the famous Grass vase in size medium. What did we do to solve the problem?

We teamed up with the visitors at the High Museum of Art in downtown Atlanta and forced everyone to make medium size Grass vases!!

We are happy to show you our latest design made by Clayides. You may have seen the Dahlia pattern before. It is simular pattern which you will find in a lot of flowers and traditional carpets.

With a background in traditional floor ornaments, Claydies has used geometry and reflections to interpret rugs in a new way. Using the motive of the Dahlia flower, hence the name of the rug.

Tine explains “We got hold of Karen’s old compass and a bunch of coloured pencils and played around with simple geometric forms and reflections. In this way the motif of the Dahlia was created and we believe that the rug has now achieved both a classic royal and a modern funky appearance”.

The Dahlia rug is both decorative and will bring some colour into your home.

The Dahlia rug is part of the New Danish Modern collection – all Danish designers and all produced in Denmark.
