This is the Hang On coat rack… well actually it’s a pile of Hang On´s. Hang On is one of our newest products, but already it has quite a unique history.
Jade Barnes-Richardson has taken the archetypal coat hanger and created a new piece of furniture from an original idea. Inspired by how clothes, overcoats and other accessories are often dumped around the home, Hang On is a coat rack consisting of a collection of several coat hangers.
We nominated Jade Barnes-Richardson’s Hang On as “Best New Product” among young and upcoming design talent during the LaunchPad Pulse fair held in the UK in June 2009. Now less than 6 months after the fair in London, it’s in production.
We didn´t come up with the name Hang On, nor did the designer – our online friends did! When we couldn’t find the right name for the coat rack, we asked online – on this blog, on Twitter and on Facebook. We were overwhelmed by the number of super creative names.
Hang On comes in Black, White, Green and Pink
Expect to find Hang On – hanging on walls by mid april.
Last week we asked you to help us come up with a name for our newest product (a coat rack designed by Jade Barnes-Richardson). We are overwhelmed with the number of really good names. We especially liked the name:
The name was almost simultaneously suggested in three different places (blog, RUM, Facebook). We will therefor send a Hang On coat rack to all three name designers. Thank you to everybody that helped us find the perfect name.
We expect to launch HANG ON soon – you will hear it first right here on the blog.
We love new and fresh ideas from young designers. That is why we like to participate in different projects such as Time to design, Rammen, Bodybuilding , BuildingF and so on. In June 2009 we participated as Jury at the LaunchPad at the Pulse fair.
Lots of talent and dreams were gathered in Earls Court in London during June. Amongst the many up and coming British design talents, Normann Copenhagen chose Jade Barnes-Richardsons Hangers as ”Best New Product”.
Poul Madsen, CEO and founder of Normann Copenhagen, explains about his pick: ” When we look at new designs for Normann Copenhagen, we take a very intuitive approach to the products. Jade Barnes-Richardson has been able to take the archetype of a hanger and create a new exciting furniture with an original idea. Hangers is a straightforward and humoristic product which is accessible and easy to decode. At the same time chaos and functional order. We are looking forward to showing Hangers in our Flagship Store in Copenhagen.”
