This weekend the World Expo in Shanghai opened. During the next six months it’s expected to be visited by up to 100 million people! If you are in the neighborhood you should definetly visit the Danish Pavilion where you can take a Copenhagen bike for a spin inside -and on top of the building. We are of course proud to have several of our products (Swing vase, Grass vase, Plane, Liqueur and Cognac glasses) for sale inside the Danish Pavilion.
Not planning a trip to Shanghai to ride bikes and do some Norman Copenhagen shopping! Well we thought of that too. Now you can see and buy the Shanghai selection in our new Webshop.

Normann Copenhagen visited the Pavilion a month ago and we are amazed with the speed which the Chinese and Danish construction workers have managed to turn a “ugly duckling” into a beautiful danish design swan.

From a design point of view, this is not the most beautiful rock in the world… far from. But it is a piece of rock from the Berlin wall that was taken down 20 years ago today. – and therefore we think it is one of the most beautiful rocks in the world. Berlin we love you.

If you are in Tokyo these days drop by the Royal Danish embassy. The front of the building has been covered with pictures of the top of the pop, when it comes to Danish designers including our very own Ole Jensen. (Washing-up bowl, Dustpan, Familia, Warm, Collect, Memory chair)

Grab your mobile, take a picture of the 2D code and you are on the way to tons of bonus info… nice modern twist by the oldest kingdom in the world.
UPDATE: Watch the “How to video” from Japan.

Graffiti is everyday viewing in cities like Copenhagen. But all of a sudden we have spotted a new kind of political Graffiti. American President Barack Obama under a bridge highway just outside Copenhagen. Is he running for president of Denmark? Is he trying to sell something or has his marketing people just gone a bit too far…literally. Very strange. It is the style of the British artist Banksy, but then again the artwork is not integrated with the surroundings like he would do. Please enlighten us if you know the story.

Yes, we admit it! We can spot a Normann Copenhagen product from a supersonic jet doing a fly-by. But sometimes we blink – and miss a spot! But thanks to our friends around the globe we still got that all seeing eye overlook. Yesterday our friends from Slovenia spotted our Cognac glasses in the Slovenian edition of…

There is nothing like a Danish summer evening where you can stay outside until midnight and still enjoy a bit of light. But there is also a dark side – the cold, dark and rainy winter-days. It’s dark when we get up in the morning and will be dark again before we come back from work.

That is probably the reason why we Danes surround ourselves with “tons of light”. We put candlelight everywhere and light up our homes with plenty of lamps. This morning (when it was cold, wet and windy!!!) we took these pictures of the Norm 06 lamp in a corridor of a “Normann”.

The Norm 06 was designed in 2006 by Simon Karkov. It is perfect for hanging high since it look beautiful from below.
